Chancellor of Guilan University of Medical Sciences (GUMS), Professor Shahroukh Yousefzadeh-Chabok, has called for the organization of joint scientific forums at the university.

Chancellor of Guilan University of Medical Sciences (GUMS), Professor Shahroukh Yousefzadeh-Chabok, has called for the organization of joint scientific forums at the university, saying such scientific events are indicative of the dynamism and growth of GUMS.

Professor Yousefzadeh-Chabok made the remarks during a scientific forum on tropical diseases which was organized at the school of Medicine of GUMS from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm on November 16.

“The organization of such meetings is highly important for the university,” the chancellor of the university said during his opening speech of the forum.

He further noted, “The organization of scientific forums is a part of the strategic programs of GUMS and is in line with the internationalization project” of the university.

Professor Yousefzadeh-Chabok highlighted that such academic events are “indicative of the dynamism and growth” of the university.

The scientific event was specifically on “Biology of Tropical Disease and Vector Control” and many students and interested faculty members, including the deans of Langeroud School of Allied Medical Sciences, School of Medicine and School of Pharmacy, attended the meeting.

Professor Paul D. Ready from department of Life Sciences of Natural History Museum (NHM) chaired the scientific meeting at GUMS.

Professor Ready, with expertise in Parasitology and also a faculty member of London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, delivered a lecture during the forum and visited different labs of the school afterwards.

The NHM, which is located in the capital city of London, is one of the museums of natural history exhibiting a spectrum of specimens from various parts of natural history.
